Wow, what a journey. While the story offers a series of indistinguishable non-surprises in perhaps the most formulaic way possible, the ease and charm of the cast, especially Marley, get us through. Every dog owner will relate to John and Jenny’s relationship with Marley, particularly when it comes to getting him to stop chewing the settee, drinking out of the trough, and attacking children. The movie spans two decades and my biggest complaint is, we don’t get to see Marley for a third. Some dogs get to be thirty, you know! By the time we regrettably get to the conclusion, everyone in the cinema will want to adopt a dog like Marley.
